Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [R1 is aralkyl; R2 is H, aroyl; R3 is hydroxyl, anilino which may be substituted with hydroxyl, lower-alkylamino which may be substituted with carboxy and hydroxyphenyl where when R2 is H, R3 is not hydroxyl] and its salt.

EXAMPLE: N-(N-Benzyl-γ-L-glutamyl)-L-tyrosine.

USE: It is immunosuppresive, thus inhibits the production of antibodies such as immunoglobulin E or immunoglobulin G, and is used in treatment for autoimmune and allergic diseases.

PREPARATION: The reaction between a compound of formula II (Ra3 is R3 except hydroxyl) or its salt and a compound of formula III (R4 is aryl; n is 0W6) gives a compound of formula IV, which is reduced, e.g., by catalytic hydrogenation to give the compound of formula I a, namely R3 is not hydroxyl in formula I .
