Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: A compd. expressed by formula I or formula II (R is formulas III to VI; R1, R3 to R5 are each a 1 to 10C alkyl, a 2 to 10C alkenyl, a 3 to 8C cycloalkyl, phenyl, etc.; R2 is H, a 1 to 5C alkyl, 2.3-dihydroxypropyl, etc.), or its salt.
EXAMPLE: 6(R)-[2-[8(S)-(2,2-Dimethylbutyryloxy)-2(S)-methyl-6(S)-(1- hydroxyethyl)-1,2,3,4,4a(S),5,6,7,8,8a(S)-decahydronaphthyl-1(S)]ethyl]-4(R)- hydroxy-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-one.
USE: An HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor useful as an antihypercholesterolemia agent.
PROCESS: The compd. of formula I is obtd. by treating a compd. of formula VII with fluoric n-tetrabutyl amonium in acetic acid and inert solvent or aq. hydrofluoric acid in an inert solvent.
