Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:[4(5)-methylimidazolyl-5(4)]-methyl-disulfide of formula I.
USE: A starting material for cimethidine, a therapeutic agent for digestive organ ulcer.
PREPARATION: The objective compound of the formula I can be obtained by refluxing under heating (A) 4(5)-methylimidazole-5(4)-dithiocarboxylic acid of formula II and (B) an aqueous ammonium compound solution. Said compound of the formula II can be easily obtained from 4-methylimidazole and carbon disulfide.
