Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula I (wherein R1 to R4 are each H, F, Cl, Br, I, CH3, OCH3, OCF3, CF3, OCHF2, CN, or NO2).
EXAMPLE: 2,3-Dibenzoyl-2-tert-butylcarbazonitrile.
USE: An insecticide, useful for controlling wide variety of harmful insects and for protecting growing plants, trees, shrubs, etc., from attack by these insects.
PROCESS: A dibenzoyl-tert-butylhydrazide compd. represented by formula II is reacted with a cyanogen halide in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst (e.g. sodium hydride) in a solvent (e.g. THF) to give a compd. represented by formula I.
