PURPOSE:To prepare a novel photosensitive resin composn. which gives an optical material with a small light-transmittance loss and temp. dependency of said loss by keeping a difference in the refractive index between a copolymer of a polymerizable vinyl monomer with a multifunctional (meth)acrylate and a polymer of said vinyl monomer below a specified value in the photosensitive resin compsn. comprising said vinyl monomer, said polymer, said (meth)acrylate, etc. CONSTITUTION:To prepare a photosensitive resin compsn. a vinyl monomer (A) (e.g., methyl methacrylate), a polymer contg. at least one of said vinyl monomer as a repeating unit (B) (e.g., polymethyl methacrylate), a multifunctional (meth)acrylate (C) (e.g., a compd. of the formula), and a photoinitiator (e.g., dimethoxyphenylacetophenone) are compounded as essential components in such amts. that the difference in the refractive index between the copolymer of A with C, wherein the ratio of the amts. of A to C combined is the same as the ratio of the amts. of A to C present in the compsn., and the polymer B is 0.02 or lower at 0-80 deg.C.
