Abstract:

To provide a novel polypeptide having a homology with chondromodulin-I, and a gene encoding the polypeptide.

The polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence, the DNA encoding the polypeptide, and the antibody against the polypeptide are obtained by isolating genes from a human, mouse and rat cDNA libraries. The amino acid sequence has a homology with the chondromodulin-I that has an effect of controlling the growth and differentiation of chondrocytes and inhibiting angiogenesis.
