To provide a novel polyphenol compound excellent in solubility to various organic solvents, therefore, developable in uses using various solvents.

This novel polyphenol is a polynuclear polyphenol compound comprising trisphenyl methane type trisphenol skeletons mutually bonded via methylene groups. Such polynuclear polyphenol compound itself has many aromatic nuclei, therefore, excellent in lipophilicity, and when these aromatic nuclei have an alkyl group and a cycloalkyl group as substituents, their lipophilicity is enhanced and with their many phenolic hydroxy groups in its molecule, its use is further extended and it is possible to expect a wide development in use. For example, it is expected, by using such polynuclear polyphenol as a raw material, to obtain various resins having further improved characteristics such as water resistance, heat resistance, and electric characteristic.
