Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: A compound represented by formula I {wherein Z denotes O, S, or NR (wherein R denotes H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group); R1 denotes an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbon group; R2 and R3 denote halogen, acyl, an aromatic group, amino, and the like, or R2 is -Z1R2' and R3 is Z2R3' [wherein Z1 and Z2 each denote O or S(O)n (wherein n denotes 0 to 2); and R2' and R3' each denote H or an araliphatic or aliphatic hydrocarbon group], or the like; R4 denotes formula II (wherein Alk is divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon; and R5 is COOH, SO3H or haloalkanesulfamoyl)}.

EXAMPLE: 2-n-butyl-1,6-dihydro-1-[(2'-(1H-tetrazoryl-5-yl)biphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-6- oxopyrimidine.

USE: A composition for treating hypertension and cardiac insufficiency.

PROCESS: A compound represented by formula I is obtained by reacting a compound represented by formula III and a compound represented by formula IV.
