PURPOSE: To obtain the titled noxious life-controlling agent, by adsorbing iodine or an organic iodine compound in natural or synthetic zeolite, thereby making the iodine, etc. in the form of stable and easily handleable solid while keeping the sterilizing, bactericidal and mildewcidal activities of the iodine compounds.

CONSTITUTION: Iodine or an organic iodine compound preferably iodoform or methyl iodide is adsorbed to natural or synthetic zeolite to obtain the titled agent useful as an aseptic for the preservation of foods, medical detergent or soap for disinfection, soil fungicide, herbicide, mildewproofing agent for wall material, sterilization spray for pigsty or henhouse, etc. The iodine or iodine compound having killing effect to noxious life can be formed to a stable and easily handleable solid by the excellent adsorptivity of zeolite. The change of the release rate of iodine, etc. with time can be controlled by selecting the pore size of the zeolite used as the adsorbent.
