PURPOSE: To obtain ultrathin walled tape having high quality even if said tape is broad and to permit easy manufacture of a nozzle in a process for producing the thin-walled tape in which a molten metal is ejected dropwise onto a rotating roll by replacing a nozzle of a slit type with a nozzle having a specific construction.
CONSTITUTION: A holder 11 consists of a storage part 11a for a molten metal having a channel shape broad in the transverse direction of a rotating roll 12 and a dropping part 11b having a narrow channel shape communicating with the center at the bottom surface thereof. The aperture at the bottom end of the dropping part inclines upward at the rear end than the front end in the rotating direction of the roll and the spacing (a) between the front end thereof and the roll is specified to a prescribed size. The holder 11 permits insertion of a nozzle body 13 made of porous ceramics so as to hold said body. The body 13 is of a Tee shape consisting of a horizontal part 13a supported by the storage part and a sagging part 13b to be inserted into the dropping part. The bottom surfasce of the dropping part has the slope 13c of the same inclination as the inclination of the aperture at the bottom end of the dropping part. A flow regulating plate 14 which is disposed along the surface 13c apart at the spacing (b) therefrom and guides the molten metal dropping from the surface 13c onto the roll is provided and the temp. distribution of the molten metal is maintained constant in the transverse direction by a heater 15 embedded in the transverse direction of said plate.
