To provide an effective nuclear fusion ignition method in laser implosion inertia confinement nuclear fusion.
The nuclear fusion ignition method includes two stages. In the first stage, the outer periphery of a target containing a nuclear fuel reaction material is irradiated with a first laser beam pulse to explode the outer periphery of the target and the reaction compresses the inside of the target to heighten the temperature and density of it. In the second stage; a part of the outer periphery of the target is not irradiated with the first laser beam pulse, the region which is not irradiated with the first laser beam pulse is irradiated with a second laser beam pulse, the electric field strength of the second laser beam pulse is set at a range where charged particles are accelerated by a laser track field acceleration mechanism and the outer periphery of an implosion core 51 is irradiated with the charged particles accelerated by the laser track field acceleration mechanism to raise the temperature of the outer periphery of the implosion core to a nuclear fusion ignition temperature by heating it.
