Abstract:
1. A numbering device for securities and certificates, in particular banknotes, comprising at least one numbering mechanism the digit rollers of which after the printing of one number get switched onwards by one number, and an inking unit which has at least one inking roller that inks the digit rollers, said numbering mechanism (5) having additionally at least one code number roller (9) arranged coaxially with the digit rollers (8) and a setting mechanism associated with it, which can be controlled in dependence upon the respective setting of the normal digit rollers (8) and is arranged for setting the code number roller (9) before each printing to a code number having a predeterminable relationship with the number to be printed by the normal digit rollers (8), characterized in that an additional inking unit (18) is provided with at least one inking roller (19) for inking only the code number roller (9) with an ink that is different from the ink of the normal number imprint.
