PURPOSE: To obtain an object which has an excellent cleaning force of machine oil and solvent and is suitable for cleaning at a production site sensitive to dust by weaving porous polyolefin fibers communicating a space surrounded by many fibrils from fiber surfaces to the center section with specific porosity.
CONSTITUTION: For porous polyolefin fibers, polyolefin is melted and spun with an ordinary spinning base to obtain unextended yarns. Lipophilic and highly crystalline polyolefin such as polyethylene, polypropylene and poly-4- methyl pentene-1 is used for the polymer. The spinning temperature suitable for obtaining a porous structure with the target porosity 20-80% is preferably set to the temperature range about 20-80°C above the melting point of the polymer. The polymer discharged at the suitable spinning temperature is preferably drawn at the draft within the range 10-10000. The porous polyolefin fibers thus obtained are woven or knit in the proper method.
