Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection device capable of individually making correction for humidity conditions while minimizing an increase in size and cost of the device, and to provide a method of calculating a humidity correction value and a method of determining an ultrasonic wave reception threshold.SOLUTION: An obstacle detection device 100 calculates an outside air humidity correction value on the basis of: a travel distance of a vehicle measured based on an output of a vehicle speed sensor 30; a first time period (travel time t) it takes for an ultrasonic wave transmitted from an ultrasonic element 10 at a starting point of a travel distance measurement to be reflected by an obstacle and received by the ultrasonic element; a second time period (travel time t) it takes for an ultrasonic wave transmitted from the ultrasonic element 10 at a finishing point of the travel distance measurement to be reflected by the obstacle and received by the ultrasonic element; and temperature of outside air surrounding the vehicle detected by an outside air temperature sensor 50.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
