Abstract:

To provide an occupant protective device for a vehicle enabling the suitable operation thereof.

This occupant protective device 1 for the vehicle comprises a forward monitoring radar 10 detecting or predicting collision, a side monitoring radar 11, an accelerometer 12 for frontal collision, and an accelerometer 13 for side collision. They are connected to a control unit 30. A motor drive retractor 20 and an active pad 21 capable of reversibly arresting an occupant and an air bag 22 and a side air bag 23 capable of irreversibly arresting the occupant are connected to the control unit 30. Then, the operating timing determination part of the control unit 30 determines the reliability of the prediction of collision by the radar 10, and based on the determined reliability, changes the priority of operations of the motor drive retractor 20 and the active pad 21 to control the operation.
