Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition excellent in environmental stability and long-term stability and also in fastness (water resistance and light resistance) of writing by using a specified basic dye salt.
CONSTITUTION: This ink composition contains a basic dye salt represented by formula I [wherein R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-4 C alkyl or 1-4C hydroxyalkyl; X is methoxy or ethoxy; Y is a basic group represented by formula II (wherein R3 is H or a 1-4 C alkyl; R4 and R5 are each a 1-4 C alkyl which may be substituted by hydroxyl, a halogeno, cyano or a 1-4 C alkoxy; and (a) is an integer of 1-4); A is a counter ion of an organic acid; and (n) is a number of 1 or smaller]. This composition is obtained by dissolving under heating a liquid comprising 1-25wt.%, based on the total weight of the ink composition, basic dye salt, 60-90wt.% organic solvent, and 1-15wt.% resin (e.g. ketone resin) and filtering the obtained solution. The content of the basic dye salt is 15-25wt.%, 5-1wt.% and 3-10wt.% for a ball-point pen, a marking pen and ink jet recording, respectively.
