To provide an oil filter having a simple construction enabling commonization of a tool used for mounting/demounting oil filters different in size, and to provide the mounting/demounting tool used for the same.
The oil filter 1 includes a casing 2 having a mounting threaded portion 22c at one end and a tapered cylindrical peripheral wall 21a with a diameter reduced from one end toward the other end, and a filter element 3 stored in the casing. The casing has an engaged portion (a protruded portion 23) engaged with the mounting/demounting tool, on the outer peripheral side of the peripheral wall at a position where a diameter D of the cross section perpendicular to the center axis thereof is a predetermined value. The predetermined value is used in common to the plurality of oil filters different in size to commonize the mounting/demounting tool.
