PURPOSE: To lower the discharge temperature of an oil-free screw compressor and improve the volume efficiency by supplying the cooled discharged gas into the space part in a rotor chamber in the vicinity of a discharge port or into the discharge port.
CONSTITUTION: The gas discharged into a discharge flow passage 7 through the discharge outlet 6 of a discharge port 5 of an oil-free screw compressor is cooled by an after-cooler 8, and then a portion of the gas is supplied into the tooth groove parts 10 of the screw rotors 3 and 4 through a bypass flow passage 9. The low temperature gas which is supplied into the tooth groove part 10 flows into the tooth groove part 10, since each tooth groove part 10 of the screw rotors 3 and 4 has a low pressure, and the temperature of the discharged gas lowers. In this case, the low temperature gas flow has an inertia, and the gas continues to flow for a certain time, even if the pressure in the tooth groove part 10 increases over the pressure in the discharge flow passage 7, and the temperature of the discharged gas is effectively lowered, and the volume efficiency can be improved.
