This oil pressure control device of a belt type continuously variable transmission includes: an oil pump 83 for supplying pressure oil to a primary oil pressure chamber 81 and a secondary oil pressure chamber 82; a first check valve 88 provided in a passage extending from the oil pump 83 to the primary oil pressure chamber 81; a second check valve 96 provided in a passage extending from the oil pump 83 to the secondary oil pressure chamber 82; and a second oil pump 118 for mutually supplying and discharging pressure oil between the primary oil pressure chamber 81 and the secondary oil pressure chamber 82. In the control device, a first pressure control valve 86 for controlling the oil pressure of the primary oil pressure chamber 81 and a second pressure control valve 91 for controlling the oil pressure of the secondary oil pressure chamber 82 are separately provided.
