PURPOSE: To provide an oil recovering device for a sewing machine with which the dimension of an oil pan can be reduced drastically.

CONSTITUTION: An oil recovering device is equipped with a bed part 3, leg pillar part 4, and an arm part 5, and an opened port part 6 is formed at the bed part 3 opposed to the lower edge of the leg pillar part 4, and gear mechanisms 10 and 12 for interlocking-connecting a vertical shaft 11 arranged in the leg pillar part 4 and the lower shaft 8 arranged in the bed part 3 are arranged in the vicinity of the opened port part 6, and oil dripping accelerating projecting stripes 14 are formed on the nearly whole circumfernce at the lower edge of the opened port part 6, and an oil pan 30 is installed below the gear mechanisms 10 and 12 and the pil drippong accelerating projecting groove 14.
