To obtain a low-cost oil remover which exhibits a high performance in oil removal by homogeneously mixing fine wood flour with wood ash in a specified ratio under stirring.
This oil remover is prepd. by homogeneously mixing, under stirring, fine wood flour A, which occurs together with saw blade scraps in woodworking plants or the like with wood ash B, which is produced by burning wood, or the like. The bulk ratio of wood flour to wood ash is (95/5)-(50/50). Pref., 50-96 bulk % wood flour A, 4-50 bulk % wood ash B, and 0.2-10 bulk % microorganisms capable of decomposing org. substances are homogeneously mixed under stirring. When the resulting oil remover is poured into a residual oil, the remover exhibits a remarkable performance in oil absorption, and the wood ash contained thoroughly absorbs an oil attached to pans or tableware, facilitating oil removal. The remover after used can be disposed of as it is as a combustible waste. The remover contg. a microorganisms capable of decomposing org. substances can be decomposed by the microorganisms when returned to soil.
