Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil seal for a roll neck bearing of a rolling mill which avoids the generation of blister in a seal lip and prevents grease from sticking to a slide contact part of a roll neck bearing with an inner peripheral side member.SOLUTION: An annular oil seal for tightly sealing a roll neck bearing of a rolling mill comprises a seal member 33 having a seal lip 42 in slide contact with an inner peripheral side member 20 of the roll neck bearing 10 on an inner peripheral surface side. An inner peripheral surface of the seal lip 42 is a tapered shape whose thickness becomes gradually thinner radially inward, and has an oil-side inclined surface 42c and an atmosphere-side inclined surface 42b which are inclined in mutually opposite directions with a leading edge 42a as a boundary. The atmosphere-side inclined surface 42b comprises a gas permeable surface 44A for allowing permeation of gas and restricting permeation of liquid, which is provided in a circumferential direction at a position closer to the atmosphere side than the slide contact part with the inner peripheral side member 20, and a gas impermeable surface 44B for suppressing permeation of gas, which is provided at a position sandwiched between the gas permeable surface 44A and the leading edge 42a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
