To provide an oil-soluble dispersant additive affording viscosity increase to a lubricant, and as a result, effective for provision of an ashless dispersant for reducing the amount of a viscosity index improver required for a finished oil; and to provide an application thereof in fuel and lubricant additive.

The oil-soluble dispersion additive contains a copolymer containing a polymer chain comprising an unsaturated acidic reactant and a terminal vinyl unsaturated group in a main amount, having at least 500 number average molecular weight, and containing at least 70 wt.% propene and 0-30 wt.% at least one kind of olefins selected from the group consisting of a 2C olefin and 4-10C olefins as an active ingredient.
