Title:
OIL STORAGE STRUCTURE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2760693
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make an internal combustion engine compact in height and improve the energy efficiency of the engine by keeping the gears of transmission mechanism and a crankshaft from being submerged in oil while securing oil quantity sufficiently.
CONSTITUTION: A partition wall 40 for separating a transmission chamber 11 from a crankshaft chamber 10 is integrally formed at a crankcase, and oil pump mechanism is provided to pump oil constantly into the transmission chamber 11. In an internal combustion engine of such constitution, a clutch cover is fitted to the side part of the crankcase to form a clutch chamber, and oil is stored in the transmission chamber 11 and the clutch chamber, on the higher level than the crankshaft chamber 10. The transmission chamber 11 and the clutch chamber are communicated with each other in such a way as to have approximately the same oil level.
