To obtain an olefin polymer capable of eliminating or reducing the necessity of using a large amount of alumoxane cocatalyst by polymerizing an olefin monomer in the presence of a catalytic system containing a specific transition metal compound, a specified organometallic compound and a dendrimer compound.
An olefin monomer (e.g. ethylene) is polymerized in the presence of a catalytic system containing (A) a transition metal compound of the formula AcMeRd (Me is a transition metal of the group 3 to the group 10 of the periodic table; A is an anion ligand crosslinked in a single or multiplex manner; R is a (substitute) 6-10C aryl or a 1-10C alkyl; c and d are each 0-6), (B) an organometallic compound of the formula Me*(Y)e(Z)f (Me* is an element of the group 13 of the periodic table; Y is a (substitute) 1-30C alkyl or the like; Z is H, a 1-10C alkoxy or the like; e is 1-3; f is 0-2; e+f is 2 or 3) and (C) a dendrimer compound to give the objective olefin polymer.
