PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer having such a wide mol.wt. distribution that its dispersion of mol.wt. distribution is 2.5 or higher by (co)polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a specific halogenated hydrocarbon together with a polymn. catalyst comprising a metallocene compd. and an aluminoxane compd.
CONSTITUTION: An olefin is polymerized alone or together with another olefin in the presence of a halogenated hydrocarbon represented by the general formula: R1R2C=CR3R4 (wherein R1 to R4 are each independently H, halogen, or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group optionally susbtd. by at least one halogen atom provided at leat one of them is a halogenated hydrocarbon group) together with a polymn. catalyst comprising a metallocene compd. and an aluminoxane compd. Vinyl chloride is esp. pref. as the halogenated hydrocarbon.
