To compress a large number of cans into a block in a rapid operation by reducing the whole size of a machine of completely manual operation, and compressing the cans by a jack having the force in a specified range.

A compression machine is fixed to a bottom plate 22 by bolts, a lid 8 is opened, sorted empty cans are thrown into an empty can throw-in box 16, and the lid 8 is fixed by an efficiency handle 6. A compression stop plate 12 is lowered below a lower part of an opening part by a compression stop handle 1 while monitoring the cans though the opening part. The compression stop handle 1 is fixed by a handle stopper 32, the stroke is expanded using a press 19 of 20-15 ton in capacity and a stroke expansion piece 18, a round bar is inserted in a hole, the stroke of the press 19 is contracted, then, the stroke is expanded using the expansion piece 18, and the round bar is inserted therein, and the can is compressed until the compress plate 17 is stopped while repeating these operations. A handle stopper 32 is removed, and the compression stop plate 12 is returned to the upper part of the opening part while loosening the compression stop handle 1. The compression plate 17 is further raised in the middle of the opening part to take out a block.
