Abstract:
To provide a one step or two step supercritical fluid extracting (SFE) method for extracting carotene concentrate, vitamin E concentrate, squalene concentrate, and phytosterol concentrate from natural oil or fat using supercritical fluid.
The method includes only one or two steps of a step for forming a condensed mixture of carotene, vitamin E, squalene, and phytosterol by esterifying the natural oil or fat and a step for carrying out supercritical fluid extraction. Supercritical carbon dioxide which can be used which is one of the supercritical fluids is nonignitable, nontoxic, and harmless. The supercritical fluid extracting method does not leave solvent residual dross and is suitable for the environment.
