Abstract:

To provide a new onium salt suitably usable as a nonaqueous electrolyte in an electrochemical device and having high electrochemical oxidation resistance and (ionic) conductivity.

The onium salt is represented by general formula (I) (CN)aX4-aB--Z+(I) (wherein, Xs are each a halogen atom; a is an integer of 1-3; Z+is an organic onium cation; and Xs may mutually be different when a is ≤2). The onium salt is, e.g. trimethylpropylammonium-cyanotrifluoroborate or 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium-cyanotrifluoroborate.
