Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the subject device working in such a manner that serrated drive rollers on both sides of an opener with their axes parallel to each other are lifted individually from the top surface of a fiber bale under codirectional rotation to open the top layer of the bale abutted on the wall face.

CONSTITUTION: This opening device works as follows: serrated rollers 8a, 8b with their axes parallel to each other are lifted individually from the top surface 1a of a fiber bale under codirectional (G', H', G", H") rotation, with the teeth thereof biting into the fiber bale so as to ensure fiber tufts to be withdrawn from the bale. Fiber tufts thus withdrawn are carried out either mechanically or by air owing to a suction device.
