At first, audio signals of a television 10 are input in a cheer detecting/uplifting device 11. The cheer detecting/uplifting device 11 determines the presence/absence of cheer-like sound from the audio signals and, when detecting the cheer, sends an operation command to wave a flag to a toy such as a mascot doll 12. When receiving the operation command, the mascot doll 12 uplifts the mood of audience by waving the flag. Later, when determining that the cheer dies down, the device 11 sends a command to stop waving the flag to the doll.
