Abstract:

To provide a cornea protective agent which is inexpensive and has a high repairing effect on cornea damage and an ophthalmic composition.

The cornea protective agent includes hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) having a corneal epithelial cell proliferation effect and chondroitin sulfate or a salt thereof as active ingredients and the ophthalmic composition contains the same.
