PURPOSE: To provide quick and accurate measurements by equipping the device with an eye examination lens having variable refractive power, an objective refraction measurement means to introduce a measurement beam via a light division member, and a control means for setting up the lens on the basis of a measurement value obtained with the objective refraction measurement means in a lens-free condition.
CONSTITUTION: A reflected beam generated at an eye front Ef due to an eye front light source 5 is imaged on an image pick-up element 30, and an eye front image Pf is shown on a screen 14. Also, the image Pf and an alignment mark M showing the center of an optical path 03 are matched to each other on the screen 14 for alignment. At the time of objective refraction measurement, a reflected beam generated at an eyeground due to a refraction measurement light source 19 is received with the element 30, and eye examination lenses 2 are set up for repeating measurements and subsequently determining measurement values. Then, an indicator pattern is shown on an indication display 1 for subjective measurements, thereby determining a combination of the lenses 2. Thereafter, the values are converted to a refractive value for a single lens via the computer of an operation unit 16, and shown on the screen 14.
