To provide an ophthalmological instrument with a signaling device to stop examinations whenever an eyelid is detected to be below a specified position.
An image of a front part of an eye under an ophthalmoscopic examination is captured by a television camera 4, and is transmitted to an image capturing memory 9. Thus, reflection images from a cornea illuminated by an outer eye illuminating lamp 5 is detected. After the reflection images from a cornea S is detected, a measurement starting switch 11 is pressed, and a driving signal to drive a piston 6 is outputted from a CPU 10 to a solenoid 7. On the other hand, when the reflection images from a cornea are not detectable, namely when an eyelid is below a specified position, an ophthalmoscopic examination is not performed because the CPU 10 does not send the driving signal to the solenoid 7 even the measurement starting switch 11 is pressed.
