PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of an image quality flaw (voids) by transfer inferiority without lowering gradation reproducing capacity by changing the resistance value distribution of a heating resistor layer at a cycle of a one-an- integer of a pixel pitch (integer; 1 or more).
CONSTITUTION: An optical address type thermal head 12 is constituted of a light detecting heating device, a drive power supply 6 and an exposure means 8 and the light detecting heating device is constituted by arranging a heating resistor layer 1 generating heat by the supply of a current, a photoconductive layer 2 receiving the irradiation with light to be lowered in resistance, the first electrode 3 connected to the photoconductive layer 2 and the second electrode 4 connected to the heating resistor layer 1 on a transparent substrate 5 previous to laser beam. The second electrode 4 is arranged so as to be overlapped with the heating resistor layer 1 and the shape of the overlapped part is formed so as to become a triangular wave shape having a pixel pitch as a cycle. The resistance value distribution of the heating resistor layer 1 changes at a cycle of an one-an-integer of the pixel pitch (integer; 1 or more).
