To provide an optical amplifier capable of equalizing the temperature distribution of a solid-state laser medium of a slab profile using a simple/small structure.
An optical amplifier 17 comprises a solid-state laser medium 31, excited light sources 32a and 32b, light absorbers 33c and 33d, heating light sources 34ac, 34ad, 34bc, and 34bd, rectifier objects 35c and 35d, a medium housing 36, and a controller 37. The active element of the solid-state laser medium 31 is excited when irradiated with excitation light outputted from the excited light sources 32a and 32b. The light absorbers 33c and 33d is provided in touch with the side surface of the solid-state laser medium 31. The light absorbers 33c and 33d absorb heating light and generate heat when irradiated with the heating light outputted from the heating light sources 34ac, 34bc, 34ad, and 34bd.
