Abstract:
To provide an optical anisotropic film excellent in suppressing leakage of light in a black display mode.SOLUTION: The optical anisotropic film has a relationship of refractive indices expressed by nx>nz>ny, where nx-nz is less than 0.005 and nz-ny is less than 0.004. A ratio R(450)/R(550) may be 0.8 to 1.2. In the formula, nz represents a refractive index in a thickness direction; nx represents a refractive index in a direction where the maximum refractive index appears within the film plane; and ny represents a refractive index in a direction orthogonal to the direction of nx; R(550) represents a frontal retardation value with respect to light at a wavelength of 550 nm; and R(450) represents a frontal retardation value with respect to light at a wavelength of 450 nm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
