To provide an optical apparatus capable of acquiring a driving correction amount for correcting a driving amount of a focus lens accurately and easily, and provide a control method thereof.
An optical apparatus comprises: a photo interrupter 14 that detects an origin of a focus lens 11a and includes an output change region R where output changes continuously; and a camera CPU that wobbles the focus lens from a position P2 in the output change region, repeats wobbling while updating a driving correction amount Y for correcting a driving amount X which is provided to a stepping motor 10 so that output values V4 to V6 of the photo interrupter corresponding to positions P4 to P6 of the focus lens which fall under end parts of reciprocatory drive on the position P1 side come close to an output value V2 of the photo interrupter corresponding to the position 2 in the wobbling, and that uses the driving correction amount Y proximate to the output value V2 for focus adjustment.
