To provide an apparatus easily adjusting the optical axis of an on-vehicle camera without needing any adjustment for the height and inclination of a vehicle.
The optical axis adjustment apparatus is installed on the vehicle 100 and has: a projection section projecting a mark 103 at a screen 105 placed at any location in front of the vehicle; and a distance measuring section measuring the distance between the vehicle and the screen 105. The apparatus obtains information on an optical axis center line T decided on a vehicle base and a projection angle for projecting the mark 103 at a position on an optical axis center line T on the screen from the measured distance between the vehicle and the screen 105, and projects the mark 103 at the location.
