Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical branching device and an optical coupler of which the transmission characteristic are hardly influenced by the fabrication error of a circuit and which have small group delay dispersion.
SOLUTION: A cross output port of a second optical coupling/branching element 10-2 is selected, a through output port of a third optical coupling/ branching element 10-3 is selected, the passband of the first optical coupling/ branching element 10-1 is equal to the passband of the second optical coupling/ branching element 10-2, the passband of the first optical coupling/branching element 10-1 is equal to the passband of the third optical coupling/branching element 10-3, the through-group delay characteristic of the first optical coupling/ branching element 10-1 is opposite to the cross-group delay characteristic of the second optical coupling/branching element 10-2, and the cross-group delay characteristic of the first optical coupling/branching element 10-1 is opposite to the through-group delay characteristic of the third optical coupling/branching element 10-3.
