PURPOSE: To provide the optical branching device with a low loss and low power consumption which is used for a wavelength multiplex optical large- capacity transmission system, a wavelength multiplex light signal processing system, etc.
CONSTITUTION: An optical amplifier 34 is installed in an optical branching input part and then optical amplifiers 35 and 36 are installed before the S/N deteriorates owing to deterioration in light signal level due to the light insertion loss in the optical branching part becomes below an S/N at which a specific error ratio is secured. The light insertion loss of the optical branching device can be compensated by the optical amplifiers and the number of the amplifiers can be minimized. Consequently, the optical branching device which has a low insertion loss and is compact and low in power consumption is provided and the wavelength multiplicity can be increased.
