To provide an optical circulator and an optical switch capable of miniaturizing and cost-reducing without using a polarized light separating element.
Light from a port 1 is made incident on an optical coupler 15 through an optical waveguide 11, and is separated to first light advancing through the optical waveguide 11 and second light delayed in a phase and emitted to the optical waveguide 13, and the first light becomes parallel light in a lens part 11a to be made incident on the optical coupler 25 after transmitting a 1/2 wavelength plate 17 and a magnetic garnet 19. The second light from the optical coupler 15 becomes the parallel light in the lens part 13a to be made incident on the optical coupler 25 after transmitting the magnetic garnet 19 and the 1/2 wavelength plate 27. The first and second light separate further the light of a phase different -90° to respectively partner side of optical waveguides in the optical coupler 25, and both separated light are canceled each other to be terminated in the optical waveguide 24, and both separated light are synthesized in the optical waveguide 22 to be emitted from a second port.
