PURPOSE: To make possible the high-luminance color display of a color liquid crystal element and to decrease the driving voltage for the element by forming a phosphor film which has a small specific resistance and accepts light to emits color fluorescent light.
CONSTITUTION: The coloring film consists of a phosphor film 1 obtd. by mixing a phosphor material 4 in a matrix 2 comprising a polymer material in which a conductive dopant 3 is added to decrease the specific resistance. The light reflected on the reflecting film plane M is again transmitted through the phosphor film 1 to the outside. A certain proportion of the light collides with the phosphor material 4 during the light is transmitted through the phosphor film 1. The phosphor material 4 transmits or reflects light in a specified wavelength region, namely light in the same wavelength region as the fluorescence the phosphor material 3 emits. Further, the material 4 absorbs light in other wavelength region and emits light (fluorescence) in the specified wavelength region from the energy of the absorbed light. Since the phosphor film 1 has small specific resistance, even when this coloring film is formed on an electrode, reduction of voltage due to its impedance is small.
