Abstract:
To provide an optical compensation plate which more fully suppresses moisture absorption of metallic oxide (inorganic materials) and a manufacturing method thereof, and a liquid crystal display device having the optical compensation plate.
An optical compensation plate 10 includes an optical compensation layer 12 made of inorganic metallic oxide on a substrate 11 and is provided with a surface modification layer 14 formed of a silane coupling agent having a fluoroalkyl group on the side opposite to the substrate 11, of the optical compensation layer 12. The surface modification layer 14 directly modifies the optical compensation layer 12 and an antireflection layer 13 is stacked on the optical compensation layer 12.
