To provide an optical compensation sheet which has a small optical characteristic change with respect to an environmental temperature/humidity changes and has high freedom of design of in-plane retardation Re and film-thickness-direction retardation Rth, and to provide a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device having such an excellent optical compensation sheet.
The optical compensation sheet is made by laminating an optical anisotropic layer on a substrate film containing a cycloolefin addition polymer. The polarizing plate consists of a polarizer and two protection films disposed on both sides of the polarizer, wherein at least one of the protection films is the optical compensation sheet. The liquid crystal display device uses at least one polarizing plate.
