To realize a shielding member of a simple structure to shield an optical axis without changing its dimensions from those of an existing optical connector connecting adapter, and to provide an optical connector connecting adapter in which heat is not concentrated on the local part, and friction powder is prevented from occurring, and a shielding member which is easily attachable and detachable.
The shielding member 5 to shield the optical axis is provided in a fitting part 19 into which a optical connector 2 is fitted. The shielding member 5 is formed of a thin plate like member having elasticity. When the optical connector 2 is fitted in, the shielding member 5 is pushed down in an insertion direction accompanying the movement of the optical connector 2 and located so as to be inserted between the inner wall of an optical connector connecting adapter 1 and the outer surface of the optical connector 2, and then opens the optical axis. When the optical connector 2 is pulled out, the shielding member 5 rises by its elasticity and returns to a position to shield the optical axis again. Moreover, the shielding member 5 can freely attachably and detachably be fixed to the optical connector connecting adapter 1.
