PURPOSE: To provide an optical connector between a photoelectric element and an optical fiber which will have no scratches made on the external surface of an optical fiber holder, when the holder is inserted or extracted.
CONSTITUTION: The optical connector 1 optically couples a photoelectric element 10 such as a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element with a optical fiber holder 15. The optical connector 1 has a nearly cylindrical main body part 2, and the photoelectric element 10 is fitted to its one end. Molds 16 of hard engineering plastic are formed on the front surface and internal surface at the other end. The front of this mold 16 is tapered 56. This mold 16 stops the surface of the optical fiber holder 16 which is generally made of ceramic from being flawed, owing to the contact of the main body part 2 formed, in general, of stainless steel.
