To provide an optical coupling device with which the accuracy of an alignment can be made less higher and connection with low loss is made possible by simplifying an optical axis adjustment.
The optical coupling device for connecting optical devices of different spot sizes to each other consists of a lower clad 2, a core 1 which is formed on the lower clad 2 and is changed in shape to a tapered form in a propagation direction of light, and an upper clad 3 which is formed on the lower clad 2 and is constituted to cover the core 1. The device is provided with a beam-condensing means 6 on at least an input or output end surface and since the more light can be made incident on the core 1 by the beam-condensing means 6, the coupling efficiency can be made higher.
