Title:
OPTICAL DIGITIZER HAVING IDENTIFICATION FUNCTION OF INDICATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3819654
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical digitizer which has the identification function of an indicator and can perform an input both with a finger and a pen.
SOLUTION: This optical digitizer is provided with a light source for emitting light, an imaging means which is arranged around a coordinate plane, images the indicator by utilizing the light of the light source and is for converting the image of the indicator into an electric signal, an operating means for processing the electric signal converted by the imaging means and calculating instruction position coordinates, a polarizing means which is provided in the light source and defines the light emitted from the light source as 1st polarized light or 2nd polarized light, a switching means which switches light illuminating onto the coordinate plane to the 1st or 2nd polarized light, a retroreflecting member which is provided at the frame of the coordinate plane and has a retroreflection characteristic, a polarization film which is provided in front of the retroreflecting member and has a transmission axis transmitting the 1st polarized light, and a deciding means which decides an indicator as a 1st indicator when the indicator is image picked up by the 1st polarized light and the indicator as a 2nd indicator when the indicator is imaged by the 2nd polarized light.
