Abstract:
PURPOSE:To horizontally load an optical disk cartridge and to eliminate a need of a vertically moving mechanism for an optical head at the time of loading by retreating and restoring a spindle motor by a motor displacing means. CONSTITUTION:A spindle motor 12 is moved upward and downward through a slider 22 and a guide means 24 of a motor displacing means 20 in accordance with the turning direction of a motor 27 by a pinion 28 and a rack 26. Thus, an optical disk cartridge 1 is horizontally loaded without interference, and the motor 12 is restored to the recording/reproducing position after loading. Optical pickups 7A and 7B of the optical head are retreated in the horizontal direction at the time of loading the cartridge 1, and the vertically moving mechanism in a window part of the cartridge 1 having a notch for the optical head is unnecessary.
